Sailing courses
Our sailing courses are organized according to the number of participants. We propose different levels and types. At present, we activated just the high seas courses conducted on “SousVent”, our 12-meters sloop that can became also a cutter.
There are three levels: basic, advanced and cruising. The characteristics of the levels are linked to the needs of the learners, their age and availability of time. It’s for this reason that we don’t plan any exact date if we don’t have any specific requests from the members or applicants.
Basic Course
The course consists of 9 lessons, theory / practice, lasting approximately 4 hours each with at least 8out at sea.
Everything takes place in at least 4 weeks, with 2 meetings a week. The programme is: reduced sail area, standing and running riggings, basic terminology, basic knots, sailing trims, luffing and bearing up, to recognize the wind, turning and careening, how to read a nautical chart, general knowledge of the on board instruments. Course second level
The course consists of 9 lessons, theory / practice, lasting approximately 4 hours each with at least 8 out at sea. Everything takes place in at least 4 weeks, with 2 meetings a week. The programme is: normal sail area, retracing the basic course with an increasing autonomy of the learner at the helm and with the riggings, rigging and using the spinnaker, taking of the reefs, rigging the foresail, preparing for the bad weather, broken down navigation, man overboard rescue, ship’s position, how to use the gps, self- pilot.
Sailing navigation Course I
The course is conducted as a didactic cruise of a week the teaching hours are about 4-5 hours a day for the entire week. In addition to the course fees, food, diesel fuel, UISP card and costs of mooring for the night are divided among the students. The programme is: Retracing of the basic and advanced course with an increasing autonomy of the learner at the helm and
with the riggings, turns and heaving down, taking of the reefs, rigging the foresail, preparing for the bad weather, broken down navigation, taking of the buoy, ship’s position, how to use the gps, self-pilot, onboard pumps, use and maintenance of outboard tender, maintenance and repairs of the sails, moorings and anchorages, man overboard rescue.
Week-end first cruising course (mooring and anchoring manoeuvres)
This course is aimed primarily at those who have already some experience or have just obtained the nautical license and doesn’t have the security and readiness to govern a sail-yacht into port during mooring manoeuvres, maybe because of the bad weather or the traffic of other boats. This course lasts one week-end from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening with sailing at sea and in port areas, Saturday and Sunday both in the morning and in the afternoon.
